It all began around the year 2016, when the idea first came to the hearts and minds of a few visionary Anambra indigenes living in Stuttgart, Germany. Far away from home, these pioneers recognized the need to come together, to share their culture, and to create a support system that would help them and others feel more connected and valued. From that simple but powerful thought, the Anambra Forum Stuttgart (AFS) was born. At the beginning, AFS was nothing more than a small circle of friends and families who met casually in their homes. They came together to celebrate major holidays, such as Christmas and Easter, to share home-cooked meals, exchange laughter, and offer encouragement to one another. Those early gatherings were filled with warmth, unity, and a sense of belonging that soon inspired others to join.
The idea of having a structured community began to take shape as more Anambra people in the Stuttgart region heard about these gatherings and wanted to be part of them. As the community grew, it became clear that there was a need for organization and structure. The members came together to draft a constitution that would guide their activities and ensure fairness, accountability, and transparency.
They elected officers to lead the association and opened formal membership to all interested individuals who shared their values and aspirations. From that point, AFS transitioned from an informal gathering into a registered, recognized community organization.
Today, AFS is officially registered with the Stuttgart District Court as a non-profit association. AFS operates through committees and subgroups that focus on various areas of community life. We have active programs dedicated to culture and tradition. We ensure that the rich heritage of Anambra and Igbo people remains alive and celebrated. Our youth committee organizes mentorship, education, and career guidance initiatives to help young people build confidence and succeed in their pursuits. The welfare and support committee visits members in times of joy and in moments of need, standing with them as one family. We also promote business networking, sports, and social activities that strengthen relationships among members and showcase the dynamic spirit of Ndi Anambra.
Our story is not complicated; it is a story of people helping people. It is about Anambra sons and daughters in Stuttgart working together to support themselves and others. We build bridges of friendship across communities and leave a positive mark wherever we go.
